As a member of the Honors College and founding member of the Louisiana Service and Leadership (LASAL) program, I have branched my studies far beyond the level of a typical LSU student. The focus of my honors coursework has centered around poverty in Louisiana, with specific emphasis on how low-income families are affected by the rising costs of healthcare.

WELCOME

Through this portfolio, I hope to share with you aspects of myself that reach beyond the contents of my AMCAS application. Over the past four years, I have worked diligently to prepare myself for a career in medicine. I have not only strived to achieve academic success, but also addressed the need for physicians to be effective leaders, communicators, and businessmen. As you will see in my portfolio, I have accomplished this by involving myself in a variety of organizations and studying aspects of healthcare beyond a science curriculum. I firmly believe that these efforts have prepared me to face the changing environment with confidence and to be a leader of physicians. I would like to thank you again for considering me as a candidate for your school and reiterate my commitment to exceed the expectations of a typical first-year medical student.

HONORS STUDENT

FINANCE MAJOR

I chose to major in Finance rather than a typical science curriculum in order to understand more about healthcare than just the practice of medicine. Rather than prepare for a medical career with "tunnel vision," I have taken a more encompassing approach by studying the business, leadership, and social issues surrounding healthcare.

Certified as being capable of effective communication in all of its forms, this distinction pronounces my ability to convey my thoughts, ideas, and contributions in a manner which is both appropriate and transparent. Having extensively refined my spoken, written, visual, and technological communication skills, I am prepared to work in the 21st Century.
